mud design question

I am looking to build my own multiplayer game.
I was going to do it totally from scratch but then began to wonder if I could just grab a mud and alter it....
here is what I want to do.
I want to have the computer randomly design a dungeon.. (completely randomly no human intervention)
then randomly place monsters onto the map.
after a given period of time the computer wipes the map and redraws the map.. unless the player has found the stairs to the next level.
considering the complete randomness of the maps ..
does anyone know of a mud that already exists or something similar that I could alter to get it to what I want.
how difficult would it be to get to where I want.
my programming background experience is 2 years worth of Ada at a local university. I don't have knowledge of the language of C or C++
