FUDGE Damage system with GURPS

Hello everyone, I hope I am not wearing out my welcome with all of these new
messages.

I have been pondering on how HP really works in GURPS. I personally find it
much more suited to my needs than an inflationary system (like d20). However,
what really caught my eye was how FUDGE (I believe written by Mr. O'Sullivan)
handles wounds.

I prefer GURPS in most situations. The numerical value for attributes and
skills provides much more room to maneuver within the system (what I mean by
that is that you have more than 7 levels to play with).

That said, I really would like to somehow intigrate FUDGE's damage system into
GURPS. It feels much more realistic (in a sense), simple, and I dare say more
satisfying than the mechanics of GURPS. I especially like the idea of having
limbs be scratched, hurt, or incapacitated rather than simply crippled or fine.

I have been working on this idea for a few hours now. I have the theory down I
think. However, I am running into trouble no matter how I look at it. My
current trouble is with exactly how GURPS numerical damage can be converted
into wound levels. The first thing that came to mind were the optional rules in
CII for more advanced healing and specific wounds. The suggestions there seemed
to work fine but, in the back of my mind I had to wonder how the scale with big
nasty critters would play out.

Also I had to think about how it would interact with the HT score and with
GURPS armor for that matter. The advantages for extra hit points would likely
end up adding "wound boxes" or something similar.

I am going to take a break for a few hours and come back to the issue fresh. I
can't hope that any of you have done something quite like this but, I would be
thankful for any advice or, someone to tell me to quit before I waist more time
if they have tried something like this only to not have it work.

Thanks everyone
