Or is it a strategy (blame the computer, rather than make people
think that is really what he wanted to do)?

If it's a real issue, get the JK to retrieve the moves file ...
If I remember correctly, (if it was the last move), it would
be the second last most recent file, starting with the letter M, under
the sub-directory for the game
(something like   Dgame/M010
