You could do it with a Java applet, then tell the user to press the Print Screen key and paste the resulting clipboard image into a paint program such as MS Paint. Obviously that's a bit clumsy. Applets can send data to the server, if I recall correctly, so maybe the server could recreate an image file that the user could then download. I believe an ActiveX component can save freely, but of course for that reason people are less likely to install one than try an applet...
