Hi I'll help ya out, I've played UIX a half dozen times or so. So you went
to Despise and got the glyph... Did you go to Paws and get the Heart of
Compassion from the mayor of Brit?

Once you rescue is daughter from the evil orcs you get a crystal looking
heart. You take the heart and the glyph back to the decay'd shrine of
compassion and say the mantra and restore the shrine...

Once you restore the shrine the glyph and the sygil are left on the table,
pick both up and go mule or do what you gotta do before you leave because
you won't be back in Brit if you follow the story for a little while.

I usually have both items in my pack when I jump on Ravens ship and talk to
her, once you show her the rune she will believe you're the avatar and set
sail for Buc's Den to speak with Sam Hayne.
