Most new SCSI drives don't require such format.  But you can do it just to
wipe out the stuff.  I doubt a Packard Bell PC would use SCSI.

My 1st suggestion for erimess is use fdisk and see if there is a logical
drive or some such and delete that one.  It sounds like her computer was
set up for backup stuff or a RAID configuration gone completely wrong.
(could it because Win95 thought the outdated Packard Bell onboard IDE
controller to be RAID compliant?)

Go to device manager and see if the disk controller has a wrong driver
installed by Win95.
