I think the lowest I saw was $45usd. My thought for getting Fritz7 was because of the low price it allows to be able to get a second chess program as well. Mostly because Fritz doesn't do Winboard engines but Deep Sjeng and ChessMaster 9000 does. Deep Sjeng also handles UCI. The other reason is that although Fritz does have some options for adjusting the playing style and strength, it is nowhere near as good in this area as Deep Sjeng or ChessMaster 9000 which not only give you many ways to adjust playing style/strength, they both give you the means to save this playing style as your own custom opponents. (A feature I wish Fritz did have.) I find this feature invaluable. Fritz 7 is still rather mighty compared to Fritz 8. Fritz 7 offers GM playing strength as well as great analysis. The biggest difference to me between the Fritz's is the 3D board of Fritz 8. I personally prefer 2D boards because I can track my positions better, but 3D is nice to look at. I just can't play as good a game on a 3D board - unless it is an actual real-life board. -- matt -`;'- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
