ASSESSOR Phase 3, 6 Taxes Use Of Cone You have the power to tax. Whenever any other player puts tokens into the cone, he must either pay you two Lucre or he must take one of his tokens from any base and place it on the star in your home system, as collateral. In order to release his collateral tokens, the player must pay you three Lucre for each token he wishes to free from your system. This must be done at the start of his challenge. You may include collateral tokens as part of a deal. If you lose your power, taxes may not be collected, but you maintain the collateral tokens to use as described above. HISTORY: The Bureau of Warp Management and Assessment excels in its persistence to duties. Once proud and beautiful, the race has come to resemble their unabated greed. Their huge, misshapen bodies are the butt of many an interstellar joke. Do Not Use With Insect Use Only In A Game With Lucre FLARE Infinity Wild: Each player must pay you one Lucre per base he has in your system or give up the base. Interphase Super: At the start of your turn, you may insist that any one player whose tokens you hold as collateral must tender immediate payment for their release. He must pay to release as many tokens from your control as possible (no more than he has Lucre). PULSAR Phase 3, 6 Con: You only have to pay Assessor 1 Lucre as tax. Phase 3, 6 Pro: Your tax increases to 3 Lucre. Collateral tokens are returned for 4 Lucre each. Eon/Avalon: Power Original - payment is one token, such tokens of any color can be traded as part of a deal. Players may deal for others' tokens to deal with owner later in game. Using Lucre, payment is 1 Lucre or 1 token, may still deal for any token. Flare Wild I forget the original Eon version. For now, as defensive player, take one card from your opponent's regular hand. Either keep it or discard it. Super: Tax is two tokens (2 Lucre if using such) Pulsar Con: You cannot be taxed if you ally on same side as Assessor. Get back your token or Lucre if Assessor allies on your side after you enter the cone. Pro: When you make a deal for taxed tokens with their owner, demand a base. If not given the base, those tokens become your tokens permanently. Put them on your bases. Experience Rating: Advanced Commentary: While Assassin is my stereotypical annoying power, Assessor is the most annoying power though Extortionist and Butler are not far behind. When playing Assessor, if any player is stupid enough to give me a token instead of the Lucre (an improvement over the Eon version, in my opinion, but Eon Assessor was created before Lucre, natch), I never, ever make a deal to return the token. Those tokens are out of the game as far as I'm concerned. There are a few "home-made" affects that can have owners get back their tokens from me, but they aren't guaranteed in the game and aren't that many. When I have to play against Assessor, I will target it for removal, case closed. I will target it even before Schizoid. I will target it even before Void, maybe. Assessor is a terrific power. If a player uses Wild Schizoid on Assessor, he gets control of all tokens on the star. He returns his to bases and when making deals can give back tokens on the star. Gerald Katz
