So you compare changing the rules of a boardgame to changing nature? Kindof odd.

I see people use all kinds of houserules to all kinds of boardgames all the time, I don't see people amending nature and changing the weather all the time.

SOmehow your comparison is flawed.

Scratch one rule out of the ruleset of chess, the draw. Games will possibly get longer.

COme to think of it, you may just need to remove the agreed draw, some of the draws are technical (like ending up with just two kings). But removing the agreed draw will put an end to a lot of them.
