I am a non-smoker. However, the wife and I have this rule
that whenever we are on vacation, we get to do whatever we want--
stuff we ordinarily wouldn't do-- blast our way through a few Tequila
shooters for 7 a.m. breakfast call, mix up a couple white Russians
(Big Lebowski), wash 'em down with 7 Krispy Kreme donuts, suck down a
pack of Marlboro's on the terrace, and so on. (I highly recommend
this rule to anyone, and can almost guarantee that it will impove your
'quality of life'.) However, any time a vacation dovetails with a
major poker tournament, then a gigantic conflict occurs between (1)
trying to enter satellites and tournaments soberly and play right, and
(2) acting like a complete flaming idiot, a situation which is usually
(but not always) resolved in favor of the latter. Thus, as a
non-smoking person who is smoking, I'd say that the smoking section
alternative seems a good choice all around.
