  Blackjack would have died long ago if a sizeable fraction of 
  players used basic strategy, for the profit of medium stakes
  games would be less than the cost of running the game.  The
  point that is made over and over is that only a minority of players
  even know about basic strategy.

  The casinos  actively detect and bar anyone that 
  appears to be card counting.  That action validates the
  worth of card counting.
