Re: New book: "Gregorian Strategy", has anyone tried it?

I browsed through it quickly at the bookstore last week, and it looks like
total crap. I read a few pages, then went to his "strategy" table.

One thing I couldn't believe is, he recommends hitting EVERY time you have
12 or 13, even when the dealer has 4, 5 or 6. This cannot possibly be right.

His claim that: "basic strategy is outdated since it was created 60 yrs ago
and based on single deck simulations" is just plain wrong.

The FIRST "basic strategy" (and a card counting system) was worked out by
John Scarne in the 1940s or 50s. His strategy and counting system are long
outdated (he recommended always splitting 10s against a dealer 6, for
example). But the world has not stood still in that time.

Since then, as the game has changed and as computers have become more widely
available, the basic strategy has been validated, tested and UPDATED by many
people, for both single deck and multi-deck games, with every rule variation
known to mankind. The best source I know of is
http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/

No one has come up with the idea of hitting a 13 when the dealer has a 6.

Here's a review of the book (and not one of the "shills" on Amazon):

Before you play with any real money, why not try the strategy on a computer?
You can download free blackjack games and play as long as you want without
risking any real money. Let us know how you do.
