ice cream maker - recommendation?

Greetings -

I am in the market for a home ice cream maker. There are really two parts to
the inquiry:

1) Is it better to have one with a built-in chiller, or is that extra cost
for no real benefit?

2) Any recommendations as to Brand/Model is best?
