[Note: While I am a vegetarian (I just prefer that diet), this list is open to all food lovers, vegetarian or otherwise!] Hello all food lovers, I have just started an email group at groups.yahoo.com called GourmetDieters. The list is intended for foodies who love to eat, but who still want to maintain a healthy weight. I started this group for two reasons: 1) Because it works and I'd like to help fellow foodies benefit. I've already lost 7 pounds following what is basically a food philosophy, not a diet at all. And 2) I want to keep going (I need to lose another 10 pounds) and could use the support and advice and encouragement of others. To join the list, go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gourmetdieters and click the "Join This Group!" button. Attached below is the group's description. It is also available by following the link above. Looking forward to talking to you! Diane [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- GourmetDieters is a mailing list for food lovers everywhere who are struggling to maintain a healthy weight when there is so much temptation out there to contend with. This is a supportive list intended for people who live to eat, not those who eat to live. And it is for true gourmets: people with a passion for the very best food that is available. Gourmets face a particularly tough challenge as dieters, since our very meaning in life is to discover a wonderful new taste that we haven't yet experienced. However, gourmets also have a powerful edge in the deiting game and that is where this list will help. The secret is a simple one: MOST FOOD IS NOT WORTH THE CALORIES. To practice gourmet dieting, the only thing that you have to remember is to ask yourself if the food that you are about to put in your mouth is the very best representation of this kind of food available. If it isn't, don't eat it! This means no fast food: Does MacDonalds or Wendy's really make the best hamburger available in the world? No way. Not even close. In fact, I haven't walked into a fast food establishment in over 20 years. If you are a true gourmet, then you haven't either. After you practice gourmet dieting for a couple of months, most food will lose all of its appeal for you. You will essentially become the ultimate food snob: A person so discriminating that you won't touch 95% of the food out there that is currently tempting you. GourmetDieters is a list where we can share tips together on handling diffcult situations, and also relate helpful advice and share anecdotes as we carefully navigate our way past all of the awful food out there to find that one delicious mouthful that is truly worth every single calorie!
