Re: Probe thermometer Questions

I have a pair of Polders, and they work fine. Much easier to use than a thermometer that you have to stick into the bird, meat loaf, etc.., and very accurate. They remove some of the stress of cooking, because all you have to do is put the food in the oven, and wait for the beeps. You can also use them to check the accuracy of your oven thermostat, to see if you oven is accurate.

One caution, do NOT let water get into the probe. If water gets inside, it corrodes the wiring and fails. Unfortunately, it cannot be sealed (things expand when they get hot, which would also cause failure). So, wash the probe very carefully, and never let water get into the opening at the rear.

The good news is that new probes are only about $10.00.

Hi all:
Does anyone have a good experience with these. Have read on Amazon that they work well for a while then croak. I think that Alton Brown uses one by Polder which gets mixed reviews or YMMV.
Has anyone used the wireless version ?

Thanks, Aileen
