BUT, they are covered with a slime of which the like you may never encounter on any other specie. It has a delightful odor, or so says a Skunk! Gars have these long snouts which are filled with teeth that a great white shark would be impressed with. Most bass anglers avoid the gar simply for the odor, the slime, the teeth and the fact that they often leave your line limp and take your lure. Those that fish for it purposefully do so with all that in mind and use a technique and equipment that makes it more pleasant, or should I say the least unpleasant to have to handle them after bringing them to the boat. I agree as suggested, google gar fishing and look for the "mophead" lures they use and the "tools" they use to handle/release the catch. Now what would make this interesting is if you do catch one, hold it up for the camera, and post it on abpf so we can all see ;) -- Shelby Foles [EMAIL PROTECTED]
