Just received a monthly publication from the town Animal Shelter that had a story about a puppy that had been purchased from a mall pet store and turned over to them shortly thereafter as the family had no idea what they were buying. Said canine is an Australian Sheepdog, which is a herd dog that needs a job and exercise. Everyone is the purchasing family works or is at school, no yard to speak of, and was not of the evening constitutional or hiking ilk, and knew nothing of dawgs in general and certainly not this dawg specifically. Thusly, said pup was getting zero exercise, and was becoming aggressive in it's play, scaring the offspring and earning it a trip to the Pound. Bloody fools........... Well, at least the story has a nice ending. A local woman who volunteers at the shelter took an interest in the pup, spent some time working with it and brought it through a puppy training course. It now lives on a farm in Maine with a few other working dogs and is enjoying a idyllic existence. At least that is what the newsletter said. They *were* looking for money........
