The drug company must've been given a heads up by your news organization (ABC?). They want it on the record they are working to educate the public about abuse/misuse of their products. The most interesting sentence from the statement: "(The Company) has been actively monitoring reports concerning misuse of our products that contain dextromethorphan and takes such reports very seriously." How extensive and complete is their monitoring program? Is the monitoring designed to improve the safety of their product, or provide a legal defense in the case of potential lawsuits? Does their monitoring program mirror the public record, or does it differ significantly from what the public can ascertain from news accounts? E.g., does the company monitor the number of thefts of their products containing DXM? If theft is a significant problem, has the company adjusted production, distribution and pricing policy to accommodate the loss? -- The lock upon my garden gate's a snail, that's what it is. -Donovan's prescient response to homeland security.
