>I was always told FPO is FLEET Post Office, used by the USN. That's quite possible -- the definitions I gave were from when I processed health insurance claims for military retirees and dependants. As we always said there, Close enough for government work. ;) >In any case, I remember when I didn't have a physical address, ONLY a PO >box, and UPS left pkgs. with the postmaster. Must have been somewhere that people/businesses cooperated in spite of corporate regulations? I think those days are slipping away... >I really hate the USPS, wish I could send stuff to DD and sil and DGD's via >UPS or even FedEx. >Thanks, Carol. >Hugs, >Noreen You're more than welcome, although I didn't contribute much. USPS has a monopoly and they know it. Don't get me started on them... I mean, why do they need to advertise? And why do they charge us a higher rate for sending "real" mail and bulk mailers get a discount for sending junk? And -- they encourage stamp collecting, meaning they are selling the product knowing they'll never have to provide the service it is intended for... then they raise the rates claiming they're not profiting enough! Enough ranting... Still stitchin' and smilin' Carol in SC
