This is a much clearer explanation. Thanks for taking the time to write it. 

I feel that, since our words in an open forum like this live a long life, we
should be as clear as possible. Incomplete and inaccurate information (like
"you only need to change a pattern 10% to be able to use it as your own) tends
to take on a life of its own.
