Not true at all. For instance, Bridget Jones Diary is a blatant rip-off of
Pride and Prejudice (one of the character's is even named Mr. Darcy), and so
many other movies have plots that were completely lifted from other movies and
books. 

Plagiarism is if you take someone else's actual words, in the exact same
configuration, and use them as your own, without any kind of credit to the
original author.
