Need help deciding on a machine

Hi again everyone,

I am taking an introductory sewing class and my teacher has recommended a
Janome 4623 LE.  I will be doing mostly sportswear, dancewear and she said this
would be a very good basic machine as it has 23 stitches, needle up/down.

I also came across the more expensive Decor Excel Pro 5124 for the same price.
Since both machines are available at a sale proce of $399 I was trying to find
out if one is really better than the other.  

I also have been told that the 5124 is not being made anymore but someone else
told me the 4623 LE is being discontinued as well.

If anyone can help me decide between these 2 machines or another under $500
that would be specifically good for sewing knits/dancewear/ stretch then I
would be very greatful.

Please advise soon as I plan to purchase within a few days.
