welcome Angela! Bobbins are generally 'machine specific' so it would be a good idea to wait for this purchase until you have the manual, which should show you the type you need. Also sewing machine needles will be needed... my favourite brand is Schmetz. A basic sewing kit would usually include: glass head pins (these don't melt under the iron), fabric scissors, thimble, seam ripper, thread (not the 5/$1.00 variety but good cotton such as Mettler or Gutterman), needles, needle threader, as well as a pair of paper scissors. Hope this helps Sue in Brampton... quilter, crafter and now embroidery newbie angela.ryan@'remove'studentmail.newcastle.edu.au says... > I have recently inherited a sewing machine off my grandmother (who passed > away last year)....it will be in my possession this weekend. I have > absolutely no sewing equipment in my house at the moment and know I will > have a few things to buy. I am told that I will need to buy > bobbins.....don't laugh, but, are all bobbins the same? (size wise or > whatever)....what are some other things that I might need? Apparently it has > a manual so I guess that will help me with threading the needle and all > that. > Any help for a beginner with NO experience would be greatly appreciated > Thanking you all > Angela
