Also, understand that he is likely to say "I hate you!" Although that's usually around 4 yrs. That's what parents are for. Kids don't mean it. They are testing the waters and need to know you love them no matter what they do.
When my kids were old enough to start saying this I responded, "Good! That means I'm doing a good job at being a mother!" :)
