Long story having to do with childhood ones dropping dead. >If we get one, whatever type of bird, it won't happen for at least another >year - until the house is finished with this interior work! Yes, good idea. Also, with a bird you may forget about candles, incense, wood fires in fireplaces, coal stoves, fake logs, ovens which have self clean feature and smoke of any kind. Also, throw away any and all non-stick cookware as it can off gas and cause the bird to die immediately, under certain conditions. When chosing a bird, make sure you are fully aware the larger the bird, the larger the poop. Mika is poop trained. She only poops in designated areas and on command if we hold her over the basket or toilet. She rarely, if ever poops on us any more. I can recall maybe two times in the last few months, and that was our fault for not "pooping" her. Birds poop about every 15 minutes. >Aboslutely. It's good that you arranged with your nieces in advance. I think >it's important to have guardians set-up for your animals - hateful for >well-loved pets to be left alone, with no one to care for them. People often >just forget about them in some oversight. We have plenty of god-children, >and nieces, nephews to care for ours. Though, right now if anything happened >to us - Puckster goes to the godchildren (and their parents)! > >ellice Whatever you do, I'm sure it wil be a lucky bird. Best. V
