Newbie filtering question

At an auction today of a shut down IndoChinese restaurant supply company,
I was fortunate enough to purchase a pallet (approximately 400 quarts) of
'Pure Orange Extract' and 'Pure Lemon Extract' for the princely sum of
$75.

Why would I do such a thing? Because the list of ingredients reads as
follows: "Ethyl Alcohol and Orange (or Lemon) Oil". Basically this stuff
is fruit flavored Everclear.

However, the fruit flavor is quite strong and rather bitter, making it
pretty much undrinkable as is, even after dilution. My first effort at
Lemon Oil removal was to run a quart through a brand new Brita filter
twice. You can see the results here:

The bottle on the left is stock, the bottle on the right has been
filtered. It was a leaker and not full to begin with; I don't think the
Brita absorbed more than 25% of the difference in volume between the two,
if that. This worked reasonably well, but the end product is still oilier
than I'd like, and there's still too much lemon flavor to make it
enjoyable.

Went out to http://www.homedistiller.org and took a look at their
excellent page on filtration. It seems I need to either filter the
extract slowly through a lot larger column of carbon, or else pour some
carbon into the bottle and let it do its magic for several days, or
freeze it, or ??????

They warn folks off of aquarium grade activated carbon, but I noticed
that petsmart sell a 'pharmaceutical' grade of activated carbon.

Has anyone used this? Don't really want to buy a 55 lb. bag from
somewhere unless I really need that much to do the job. With 100 gallons
to filter, though, maybe I will.

Given the quantity involved, I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts on how
to run it through a reasonably efficient, inexpensive filtration process
and get it back as close to pure alcohol as possible before subsequent
dilution. Sort of imagining being able to go from one full bottle through
the filter to an empty bottle and just work through it bottle by bottle
over time. Then, the party starts!

I don't have a still and don't want to go that route, since it's
technically illegal in the States. Can't imagine the Feds would have any
problems with me pouring it through a tube, though.

Thanks for any and all help.

LS
