I think what we are seeing is an escalation of business competition to include violence... of course, some businesses use this routinely... But seriously, who is giving money to the suicide bombers? It seems likely to me that the World Trade Center was a very specific target picked for business reasons and the 'sold' to the fanatics so that they *believed* it was the symbol of Satan (or whatever the Muslim equivalent term would be). And these same interests continue to funnel money into the terrorist channels because they gain by it. In the same way, you might say that we are seeing an escalation of global cultural warfare. No place on Earth is out of reach of MacDonalds & Hollywood, another symbol of Satan according to many. So those who really hate it lash out. > we can spend 10 years trying to deny it > and avoid it and *then* another 5 fighting it, or we can just spend 5 years > fighting it and get back to our relatively peacefull lives. It's possible that we'd have less of a problem with some specific groups of fanatics, but overall we'd be much worse off IMHO. I also find it very difficult to believe that we're any better off "fighting terrorism" is Iraq. Not even close to the same group of people. It is just economic warfare promoting some business interests in the USA (or just offshore). At least, that's the way it appears to me. Regards Doug King
