In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] says...
How much do you suppose that costs us, the taxpayers? Golly, lets not burden Walmart with having to make certain their employees have adequate access to health services.
Not their job. Employer-paid health insurance is, without question, the worst thing that every happened in the history of the U.S. economy. Nothing else even comes close.
Hello? Reality knocking here!!!
Presently, it has indeed fallen to employers to provide health insurance. Until we have a better system it'll continue.
If you'd like to live in a glossy world of unreality that's your problem.
I live in the real world of having a family, a business and employees who need health insurance for themselves and their families.
I don't burden the public health care system with uninsured employees.
Being an economic illiterate, you don't recognize market forces when they're chewing your empty head off.
I recognize when globalism is working against us.
No, you don't. You have a whiny leftist's typical misapprehension - just fucking clueless - about globalism and trade. There is NOTHING different about trade today, merely because some pundits have begun using the word "globalization".
Have you attempted to get your Dell computer fixed recently? You're calling a resident of Bangalore, India who recently took the job vacated by the person who used to work in Denver.
Is this a figment of my imagination or did I just hear that the Republican party is using call centers in India to do fund raising?
Is the earth still flat or am I okay to consider it a globe?
Labor markets overseas have neither the cost of living nor the investment capital committed to intellectual property. It shouldn't be sold off to the cheapest supplier in an effort to commoditize products. Corporate scum bleed our country of its intellectual property for short term profits and stock prices. Short term thinking, we'll fix it later, a Republican mantra.
Were you just going to let this go or do you have something pithy to say?
I wouldn't have survived being at the helm of a high tech company for the last dozen years.
Non sequitur, and undoubtedly a lie. You couldn't survive a week "at the helm of a high tech company" with the sort of anti-business, stupid, bigoted views you have.
I don't think pro-human is necessarily anti-business like you fools who call yourselves "conservatives." Human capital is more precious and valuable to me than monetary capital.
You obviously consider human capital just another commodity.
How sickening.
You can call me a liar, but, since you have no idea who I am or what I do it decrements your argument and exposes you as an envious fool.
Assume whatever you like, I speak the truth.
Apparently, you cannot handle it like so many "conservatives" before you.
I run a high tech business that sells into corporate markets in America. I cover my employees health insurance even though it constitutes a significant obligation and impact on our compensation costs.
Further, I don't discriminate against older hires even though I know it'll affect our insurance costs. You probably think that's stupid, I think it's my duty as a businessman and responsible citizen.
Business is not economics.
Oh, really? Do you run a business or are you just a poseur who pontificates (or should I say defecates) on subjects about which you know little?
You abandoned the thread in which you assumed me a bigot after information proved my "bigoted" assumptions were indeed correct.
I'm bigoted against blind idiots like you who hide behind dubious "research" of sham organizations like the Employment Policy Foundation.
Why don't you enlighten us a little more on the history and economics of Switzerland?
Like you I've spent time there but I've also seen what's hiding in the mountains and understand their legacy.
Don't try to use them as a shining example of a "service" based economy unless you think having blood on your hands is an acceptable byproduct of a successful economy.
From what you've posted, I expect you're just fine being bloody as long as you're rich.
