There isn't a lot of woodworking on a S&G boat anyway. Patience and attention to detail likely contribute to a nice S&G boat as much as woodworking skills. An absolute beginner is probably more likely going to pay attention to every detail (fearing that they're going to do something wrong) than the experience woodworker that might not follow instructions as closely. The only area where experience really helps is in the varnishing.
