Well a C10 chain works fine on TA Cyclotouriste rings, which are a much older design. The teeth on those chainrings, are, according to my vernier calipers, 2.1mm thick. That's compared to 1.94mm thick for a chainring that explicitly states that it's 10-speed compatible.
