I almost agree with you. The Danube through the Wachau (roughly Krems to Melk) is as good or betyter than the Mosel. Your photos brought back warm memories. My impression, though, is that the Danube either upstream or downstream from that rather short stretch wasn't as interesting as the Mosel, which similarly gets less interesting beginning a few miles upstream from Trier. Nor would I ever fault the scenery in the Alps, based on my 5 days riding there. It was just more climbing than I really prefer, followed by downhills that an easily scared rider like me can't take full advantage of.
