Hey, cut the guy some slack.
I'm sure his local cooper's shop was busy, and unable to provide a wooden barrel, as used by homesteaders of an earlier time. The poly drum is a modern equivalent.
Homesteaders did have some technology of the time backing them up, especially being able to buy tools and supplies. If Len's project involved making all of those things from scratch, it would have taken far longer than 18 months.
