I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong.

Nope. Just pointing out that the realities have changed. I would not
interpret pragatism as losing graciously.
In fact, nobody has to lose anything. The losers will be Taiwan is they
foolishly force the issue.

But that is what it's all about. Same as for China putting a man on the
moon. There is no point other than to show China is a player on the world
stage. China suffers from the same inferiority complex as Russia, thus the
irrational behavior.
