There is one fatal flaw in that argument. The US did not invade the North.
The North invaded the South. America was merely trying to prevent the North
from violently imposing their politics on the South. So if the invaders were
killed, so be it. Beyond that, if you still have a problem, dig Lyndon
Johnson up and kick the corpse. He is the one responsible for needlessly
dragging out the conflict. Had Johnson acted as decisively as Nixon, many
lives would have been saved. Johnson was a coward and both Viets and
Americans died because of that.

Johnson and Mc Namara should have both been tried for treason.
