If you've got 1. Fuel 2. Air 3. Spark AND 4. Timing correctly set then it should fire. Take out the air filter and see if it will start, you may have restricted flow due to dirty filter. Also, the presence of spark does not necessarily mean all is well... can you hear a "snap snap snap" when holding the plug against the block turning over the engine? If it's not air or spark, do you have fuel injectors? Dirty/plugged on one or two cylinders can cause a no-start condition but still gives PLENTY of gas through the others.
