Purchase Advice- Jetta 1.8T

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a 2000 Jetta with a 1.8T/5sp. It has 53K on it.
I currently drive a 96 328i with handling mods.  My questions are:

1) Does this car have the 150 hp. or 180 hp. mtr.  I believe it is 150.  What
type of relatively inexpensive mods. can be done to boost the power?

2) Do these cars still have the soft springs in the front?  What does it cost
to upgrade the handling?

3) What type of drivetrain warranty does this car have?

4) Any other advice would be appreciated.

5) Is is worth the price diff. to get an 01 car?
