I'm biased since our "newest" VW is 13 years old (Jetta)...but if you live in an area which has winter the roads are salted, the Honda will likely rust before the Passat. In our area (Ontario, Canada) Mk2 Jettas and Golfs outnumber Hondas of the same vintage, and they have less rust. Bruce
