84 Rabbit keyswitch

I got the proper part, but how do I get the old one out and the new one in?
The problem was in the plastic keyswitch insert... the piece below the key
tumbler and steering wheel lock.
I found this out by talking to VW expert, buying the part and unplugging the
wiring harness at the base of the keyswitch mount. I plugged it into the new
plastic unit and turned it with the tumbler. Worked great.
I've noticed on other steering wheels that the keyswitch mount has a tiny
access hole to remove a set-screw and release the plastic switch assembly,
but mine doesn't.
I haven't removed the steering wheel yet and I'm hoping it won't be
required. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
