Some clubs, BMWCCA for example, require it within the last 90 days before they will let you take your car on the track. Brake fluid attracts moisture which lowers its boiling point. Changing the fluid is a relatively minor expense for the peace of mind it gives you. Three years is probably fine if you never track your car. -- Robert B.
