OPENWHEEL: DAMS Eurocup FRV6 Paul Ricard day one test notes

Le Castellet, 3rd December 2003  - While Jose-Maria LOPEZ, winner of the 2003 Eurocup 
Formula Renault V6 with 
DAMS, was testing at Barcelona in the Renault R23 Formula 1, all DAMS Team 
was in action at the fabulous High Tech Test Track in the South of France. 

The first half of the day was dedicated to drivers invited by Renault Sport. In 
the rain, Robert BELL (UK / 2nd Fran Am), Loïc DUVAL (France / 1st French 
FR2000), Paul MEIJER (NL / 1st Benelux FR2000), James ROSSITER (UK /3rd UK 
FR2000) and Alex DANIELSON (SWE / UK FFORD) drove the 3 DAMS cars with no 
major problems.  

Eric BOULLIER, Managing Director : "This morning we had a very good contact 
with the drivers even if we would have preferred to test on a dry track. Loïc 
and Robert did not have the best track conditions and managed to make a 
good consistent test, Alex was very quick in action and fast in wet conditions, 
James and Paul were in the Top 3. Nobody was here for performance but I am 
satisfied with this morning." 

Then DAMS started the half day work session with Memo ROJAS, James 
ROSSITER and Paul MEIJER. "Memo did not have a perfect lap today and he 
needs to get more experience on wet tracks, also he had some hydraulic 
problems. Paul and James have been a long time 1st and 2nd but the track was 
drying and some drivers improved in the last minutes as we decided to stop in 
the same time. Tomorrow we have a full day to continue our program, let's 
hope the weather will be a little bit better!"
