IRL: Kenny Brack medical update 2003-12-02

Kenny Brack moves back to Columbus for Rehab
Injured Team Rahal driver leaves Indy Monday, hopes to go home soon

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Dec. 2, 2003) - IRL IndyCar® Series driver Kenny Brack was
transferred near his Columbus home Monday afternoon after almost six weeks in
Indianapolis's Methodist Hospital and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana.

On Monday (Dec. 1), Brack was transferred to Dodd Hall Rehabilitation Center at the
Ohio
State University Hospital in Columbus for inpatient therapy. Brack and his wife Anita
anticipate Brack to return to their Upper Arlington home within two weeks and Kenny
will
continue outpatient physical therapy in Columbus.

"I can tell you that I feel I am getting stronger every day," said Brack, who suffered
massive injuries on Oct. 12 at Texas Motor Speedway in Team Rahal's Pioneer/Miller Lite
Honda Dallara. "I was ecstatic the other day when the leg doctor came in and said
'your
bones are healing faster than what we expected and you can start walking on your left
leg
tomorrow'. Since then I have walked nearly every day. Every day I am walking a little
bit
further. I have been walking with crutches. That's a lot harder as it requires more
balance
and it wears me out really fast at the moment. That's what happens when you spend about
six to seven weeks in bed."

"It was very emotional to see Kenny up on his feet and walking with crutches," said
Anita
Brack, who is scheduled to have the Brack's first child in late December. "He is
improving
daily now. I'm sure he will be working harder in therapy as he gets stronger. I know
he
and I are thrilled to be back home in Columbus now."

Brack was injured in an accident on Lap 188 of the Chevy 500, the final race of the
2003
IndyCar Series season.

Brack, the 1998 IRL IndyCar Series champion and 1999 Indy 500 winner, suffered a
fractured right femur, a fractured sternum, a fractured lumbar (L-3) vertebrae and
fractures to both ankles. Brack had surgery on Oct. 12 (femur and ankles) and Oct. 13
(vertebrae) at Dallas' Parkland Hospital. He had follow-up surgery on his vertebrae
and
right ankle on Nov. 4 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Persons wishing to send a get-well message to Brack can do so at www.teamrahal.com or
by
sending cards or letters to: Team Rahal, 4601 Lyman Dr., Hilliard, Ohio 43026.
