It's a definition, not a rule. And part of the definition includes
"cars that look like 1948 or older...." so the replicars kind of fit the
definition. But most steet rodders look askance at the replicars,
unless they're (good) replicas of things like 32 or 34 fords....

actually, if they are that "purist" any replicars shouldnt be allowed,
then they will go the way of the dinasours..... ;)

The thing about replicars is that there is a continuous line from an original car, to an original car with some replacement parts like fiberglass fenders, to a car with a replacement (but stock styled) fiberglass body, to a full fledged replicar. Some of these cars in this line are serious street rods, so it's hard to say just where exactly the street rods stop and the replicars begin.

and to stretch it a lot, a 97-03 Dodge pickup would fit that rule as there look is based on the 40's pickup.

Not it isn't. There may be some regressive styling with the bulging fenders and narrow hood, but they look nothing like the old trucks...compare the size and shape of the windshield on a 1940 pickup and an 2000 pickup, for example. There have been big changes over the years that will never be reversed.

interesting disscussion though :)

yeah.
