Re: '32 Ford bumper braces

Larry Loiselle wrote:
I am building a 1930 Ford Model A closed cab pickup streetrod. The frame
has the '32 style add-on frame horns and I have a '32 style steel gas tank.
I have a Model A bumper like the front one except curved on the ends to
mount on the rear. I need a measurement of how far out this brace
extends (see drawing).

The rear braces look like question marks. They are bolted to the rear frame
horns with two bolts. I need to know the distance from the outside bolt to
the top of the curve (B to C = D). This tells me how far out the brace will
hold the bumper from the frame horn. Help?

D = How far the brace will hold the bumper from the frame horn

Thanks.

Larry--

I can't figure out what you're asking for....do you need to know where to drill a hole in the frame? or in the bumper bracket? or how far the bumper should stick out beyond the tank? or how to form the brackets? or what? I don't know what's a variable, and what is already fixed in place.

I have some 30-31 model A rear bumpers laying around, and a friend is building a 28 A pickup (planning on putting a tank ahead of the axle under the bed), but he also has a deuce coupe and sedan to look at....so if I can figure out what you need, I might be able to help.
