Re: Head gasket sealer? - FIXED

Fixed the problem. The first thing that I did was recheck my leakage
testing. I came across a website that said I could check cylinder 1 & 4
together at TDC and then bring cylinder 2 to its TDC and check 2 & 3 at
the same time. WRONG. Even though the cylinder pairs have their pistons
at the top of the cylinder, one cylinder will still have a valve
slightly open enough to leak. Results after proper testing - all
cylinders are ok so the replaced head gasket is okay.

The engine was burning oil and white smoke out the exhaust big time.
When I took the head off, coolant drained into the oil pan and oil
drained into the coolant. (I still can't find the coolant drain plug
after 14 years!). I drove it to the closest Instalube and had the
coolant flushed and an oil change. Drove in under a huge cloud of smoke,
came out with out a puff.

I figure the oil level was way to high and was getting sucked up through
the PCV valve inlet which is very low in the block on this engine near
the oil pan.

The car is back together and runs like a top again. Thanks for all the
replies and helpful suggestions.
