Question, HELP please

hey everyone,
 i borrowed my friends vw golf, i'm not sure of the exact year i think it's
a 95. anyways, i accidentaly set off the factory alarm. i couldn't get it to
turn off so i just disconnected the positive battery terminal b/c i woke up
all my neighbors at 7am. i connected the battery back and got the alarm to
not go off........but now the car won't start! does anyone have any ideas, i
searched google but couldn't find my answer. any help would save my day!
