What you'll find is that muffler shops within a chain aren't all
alike.  If they go with the absolute cheapest stuff, you'll notice
that the pipes are smaller and it rusts out quickly.  

It's possible they will offer you a choice, but unlikely.

You could be happy with a Midas cat back 'system' from one shop
but it's possible you'll have my experience whereby they welded
up the cheapest parts they could and it got load within 6 months.
2 years later I was replacing it again.  

Did VW ever get with the program and put stainless exhausts/mufflers
on their regular models yet?  I think they did on the Passat a while
back, but am not sure about the less expensive models.
