What you'll find is that muffler shops within a chain aren't all alike. If they go with the absolute cheapest stuff, you'll notice that the pipes are smaller and it rusts out quickly. It's possible they will offer you a choice, but unlikely. You could be happy with a Midas cat back 'system' from one shop but it's possible you'll have my experience whereby they welded up the cheapest parts they could and it got load within 6 months. 2 years later I was replacing it again. Did VW ever get with the program and put stainless exhausts/mufflers on their regular models yet? I think they did on the Passat a while back, but am not sure about the less expensive models.
