Re: Sneaky A/C

I've found an annoing thing in my NB Miata.
Every time the ventilation knob is in either "windshield" or
"windshield/legs" position, the A/C turns on (when fan is on).
I have the same in my Camry, but only in "windshield" position and the A/C
light come on honestly.
Not in Miata - you can hear AC compressor but no light, no warning.
I do not see any reason to drive a Miata in winter with A/C on all the time
(since "windsh/legs" pos. I find most comfortable). I can control my foggy
windows turning AC just for few minutes.

The big question is:
How to turn it off??
I'd love to use my AC by the AC switch ONLY.

Maybe someone has a wire diagram for 2001 stick, AC, PS, no ABS, no cruise.

I've got the same problem in my wife's '02 Accord - the A/C defaults to on regardless of settings and must be manually turned off each time. My 03 4Runner has an auto setting that will only blow out the floor vents but it also always goes to recirc for a while whether on auto or not. In their attempt to make cars more sophisticated, manufacturers are forgetting that some of us like to do it the "old fashioned" way and set out own adjustments and temp settings. Don't know why they can't put a "pure manual" switch on the systems and let us do our thing from there. I thought about disconnecting the A/C on her car in the winter but sometimes we get strange humid days in winter and she needs the a/c to properly clear the windshield.
