Altering the ride height on a Miata causes major changes in wheel alignment. To maintain safe handling, the car would need a new alignment each time you made a height adjustment. Air suspensions are not as reliable as steel springs. I used air shocks on a motorcycle many years ago, and had to push the bike back to the trailer when a small piece of trapped gravel wore a hole in the rubber bladder. On the road, suspension failure could cause a serious wreck. Air shocks are well established as *auxiliary* springs for carrying heavy loads in trucks. They don't replace the original springs. -- Lanny Chambers, St. Louis, USA '94C the alignment page: http://www.hummingbirds.net/alignment.html
