Drooling carburetor

'84 CJ7 inline-six with stock Carter carb.

I followed a procedure to help cure an erratic idle this carb was notorious for ( http://www.jeeptech.com/engine/carter.html )... the Jeep now idles fine but I noticed something peculiar when I step on the gas. For a split second the engine seems to choke before increasing rpm's. I removed the air cleaner and noticed that the fuel coming out of the venturi nozzles sort of dribbles out when the throttle is opened.

From the little knowledge I have of TBI systems, the fuel should be evenly spraying/misting. Is this the case with these carburetors or is that how the fuel is delivered?

I had cleaned out the venturi cluster and idle pickup tubes with spray carb cleaner and some guitar wire. Now I'm thinking I might've not cleaned the venturi nozzles enough, I'm gonna go through them again and see what happens. Otherwise anyother advice?

Fuel filter along with other parts (oil/plugs/wires/cap/rotor) are brand new.
