Re: Gasket sealant or not?

Thanks for the replies, I ended up using the RTV gasket sealant, spread very thinly on each side of the gasket hoping it would help keep the gasket from flopping around as I tried to install the cover. The Fel-Pro gasket (found out it was cork/rubber combo gasket) came with instructions that didn't mention using sealant at all.

The sections of the driver's side gasket got pinched inwards and it began to leak again, so I had to loosen it all up and pull the gasket even with the cover and head surface. So far so good.

Eventually I'll probably end up getting something like the PML aluminum covers, I think they are gasketless and only require that blue RTV gasket maker as a seal.

I used RTV and cork when installing my valve cover ... no leaks
I also re-sealed the PCV connectiosn with RTV while it was open...
